There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Research Interests

I am a condensed matter theorist, working in the field of strongly correlated systems. My main interests are related to low-temperature properties of itinerant electrons and frustrated magnetic systems. By using numerical methods, like classical and quantum Monte Carlo, exact diagonalization, density-matrix renormalization group, and analytic approaches (slave particles, Gutzwiller approximation, and spin waves), I focused my attention on Hubbard-like models and their generalizations. I work on:
  • Charge and spin instabilities in strongly correlated systems
  • Frustrated magnetic systems
  • Metal-insulator and superfluid-insulator transitions
  • Correlated systems in presence of disorder
  • Microscopic models for high-temperature superconductors
  • Thermalization and real-time dynamics for quantum systems
  • Classical and quantum Monte Carlo methods
  • Lanczos and exact diagonalizations
  • My personal beliefs are:

  • Projected fermionic wave functions for spin liquids
  • Resonating valence bond theory of superconductivity
