Director of the Master in High Performance Computing
Associate Professor at SISSA mathLab
Member of the Mathematics Area
Lecturer at Università di Trieste
The laboratory of Applied Mathematics SISSA mathLab, directed by prof. Antonio De Simone, is one of the most stimulating environments in SISSA. I'm currently supervising a few postdocs, PhD students and Master Students of the laboratory.
Communicating Science is just as important as Science itself. At SISSA, the "Master in Comunicazione della Scienza Franco Prattico" (www.mcs.sissa.it) offers one of the most successful programs to teach the art of Science communication. I am one of the collaborators for the course "Comunicare la Fisica e la Matematica".
Fluid-structure interaction problems and advanced computational techniques are the core of my research activities. I'm an Assistant Professor at the applied mathematics laboratory SISSA mathLab (www.mathlab.sissa.it). My role in the laboratory is to develop innovative numerical methods and technologies to tackle physiological, biological and industrial FSI problems.
My teaching activity focuses on Scientific Computing, Numerical Solutions of PDEs and High Performance Computing. I teach courses for the PhD in Mathematical Analysis, Modelling, and Applications (www.math.sissa.it), for the University of Trieste (www.matematica.units.it) and for the Master in HPC (www.mhpc.it).
Exposure to Science should start very early! SISSA has an outreach program for school kids which tries to bring kids closer to science. I'm often involved in seminars, short courses and guided tours of SISSA for school kids.
The Master in High Perfomance Computing (www.mhpc.it) is a high-level degree program whose aim is to train students in solving complex problems with HPC techniques. I am currently the director of MHPC for SISSA activities.
I am one of the Developers of deal.II (www.dealii.org) — an open source C++ software library supporting the creation of finite element codes...
