Maria Giovanna Mora Curriculum Vitae


I was born in Parma (Italy) on April 1st, 1974.

I studied Mathematics at the University of Parma, where I graduated with full marks and honours on July 14th, 1997. The title of my thesis was Approssimazione non locale in problemi con discontinuità libera and I worked under the supervision of Professors Emilio Acerbi and Massimo Gobbino.

From November 1997 till September 2001 I attended my Ph.D. studies at Functional Analysis and Applications sector of SISSA, in Trieste, where I defended my Ph.D. thesis on October 30th, 2001. The title of my Ph.D. thesis was The calibration method for free-discontinuity problems on small domains (download) and the supervisor of my Ph.D. thesis was Professor Gianni Dal Maso.

From October 2001 till October 2003 I was a postdoctoral associate at the Max-Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences of Leipzig (Germany), in the group of Professor Stefan Müller.

Since January 2004 I have been Assistant Professor (Ricercatore Universitario) in the Applied Mathematics group of SISSA.

From September 2007 till December 2007 I visited the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications in Minneapolis (USA) in the framework of the Thematic Year on Mathematics of Molecular and Cellular Biology.

In November 2008 I visited the Center for Nonlinear Analysis at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA).

In March 2009 I visited the Laboratoire des propriétés mécaniques et thermodynamiques des matériaux at the Université de Paris Nord, France.
