Ararat Memory meeting

Travelling to Armenia

If the last time you came was with Noah, you will now find it difficult to reach Mount Ararat with an ark. Ararat from the skyLuckily, Armenia is conveniently located between Europe and Asia, and connected by air routes to most countries in Europe, the Middle East, the CIS and Asia. There are several international airlines that land in Yerevan. One can fly directly from Amsterdam, Athens, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Kiev, London, Moscow, Munich, Odessa, Paris, Prague, St.Petersburg, Tel Aviv, Vienna, and other cities, or use connecting flights through Moscow, Vienna, and Prague. Given that ticket prices may be higher when buying from Europe, the LOC has discussed the possibility of using local travel agencies in Yerevan to book and/or purchase tickets for participants. Details will be announced later. The international airport is Zvartnots, located 7.2 km southwest of Yerevan. Local time is GMT +3, and during summer time, GMT +4. Note that the Yerevan airport tax is normally not included in the price of tickets; you will be asked to pay 10,000 Armenian drams (about 20 Euros) before departure (when returning home).

Visas

You are strongly advised to contact the nearest Armenian Consulate or
Embassy to inquire about visa regulations for your country. The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites you to apply for and receive a visa electronically, on-line at http://www.armeniaforeignministry.am/eVisa/.

It
is also possible, for nationals of many countries, to arrive in Yerevan without a visa, and to get it at the airport (by paying 30 Euros). In this case try to be the first to rush towards visa counter, since most visitors prefer to obtain their visa at the airport, so long queues are typical. The LOC suggests having 30 Euros ready in cash, or else you risk another long queue at the cash machine.

There are countries whose nationals can only apply to the nearest Armenian embassy to obtain, with a letter of invitation, a visitor visa: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, China (except for Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao) Egypt, India, Iraq, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Viet Nam. Letters of invitations can be issued where appropriate.
