Math Research:

I am a third year PhD student in the Geometry group at Scuola Internazionale Superiore di Studi Avanzati (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy, under the supervision of Prof. Rafael Torres.
In general, I am interested in constructing 4-manifolds, recently, I also grew to like collecting exotic surfaces with various properties, this can be quite similar to collecting 4-manifolds since the surfaces in question are belt spheres of surgeries. These preprints gives an idea:

  • A recipe for exotic 2-links in closed 4-manifolds whose components are topological unknots. With Bais, Malech and Torres.
  • Exotically knotted 2-spheres and the fundamental groups of their complements.
  • Some of the talks I gave:

  • The h-cobordism theorem. SISSA Junior Geometry Seminar, April 2022.
  • 4-manifolds and exotic 2-spheres. Tassily Sunday Math Seminar, March 2023.
  • Exotic 2-knots and 2-links in 4-manifolds. GDR Journées Tresses, Marseille, August 2023.
  • Exotic 2-knots and 2-links in 4-manifolds. Seminars on Knot Theory and Related Topics, September 2023.
  • Tayloring a 4-manifold for the everyday group. SISSA Junior Geometry Seminar, February 2024.
  • In October 2022, as part of the 4-manifolds course given by Prof. Torres, I gave two lectures on Heegard splittings, Dehn surgery and the Poincaré homology sphere. Coincidentally, the Dehn surgery part was on Halloween.

    Math Non-Research:

In 2016 and in 2017 I participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad. Since 2021, I volunteer from time to time in the Algerian Olympiad training. In July 2023, I was an Observer A at the IMO in Japan.
In April 2023, together with Mohamed Alaa Eddine Boukholkhal, I organized the Pure Math Open Days for the first year university students in Algeria.

    Non-Math:

  • I like to do bike rides and sometimes trekking.
  • I speak Arabic, English, French and Italian.
  • The tiles in the background are from my grandparents' house.
  • How to wear a Poincaré Homology Sphere.
